Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups, bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the country’s largest city, is home to bustling markets, numerous parks and lakes, and the towering, gilded Shwedagon Pagoda, which contains Buddhist relics and dates to the 6th century.

Day 1 : Chennai - Yangon

Fly to Yangon

Assemble at Chennai International Airport at 2015 hrs. After immigration formalities proceed to Singapore by flight no. SQ 529 at 23.15 hrs on way to Yangon (Myanmar).

Day 2: Yangon Arrival – Visit Shwedagon Pagoda

Yangon Pagoda's

Arrive Singapore at 0555 hrs and catch flight no. SQ 998 at 0755 hrs and arrive Yangon Airport at 0920 hrs. Min ga la ba! Welcome to Yangon, Myanmar. You are greeted by our guide and driver at the International airport for your transfer to the city.  Start your introductory half-day tour which takes you to the colonial-historical centre of Yangon, a photo stop to the Karaweik Hall royal floating barge; and the gilded Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years.  Next visit is the CHAUK THAT GYI pagoda to view its magnificent reclining Buddha. We visit BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET, where hundreds of gemstone, handicrafts, art, clothes and food stores are tucked in a maze of color. (Please note that the market is closed on Mondays and on public holidays). We complete the day with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SWEDAGON PAGODA, a gleaming bell dome structure that dominates the city’s skyline. Legends state that the sacred hairs of the Buddha are enshrined here. The Shwedagon is an iconic symbol of the country, a sight not to be missed. Proceed to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world's most spectacular religious monuments in the world rises majestically over Singuttara Hill to the city Yangon, casting its golden gleam over the low-lying capital. This 2,500-years old structure, which contains the relics of four Buddha’s, is the guardian temple of Yangon and the most sacred site for the people of Myanmar. Start from the Eastern entrance of Shwedagon pagoda and walk through the small shops where monk accessories, Buddha statues, flowers etc. are sold. The entrance is always very busy with sellers and local pilgrims. You'll learn about the daily life of the local people who reside in the immediate surroundings and gain a deeper insight into the Buddhist religion as you provide offerings to the monks. Then, walk along the pagoda platform clockwise, as is tradition, around the main Pagoda. During this interactive walking tour of the pagoda, explore walkways and hidden gems that are unknown to most visitors. Stopping in one of the pavilions to prayer, you might get a chance to meet a Buddhist monk and talk about Buddhism and meditation or simply contemplate. Continue through the back door of Shwedagon Pagoda and discover its fascinating history. As you walk the magnificent grounds and interior and even you can visit a local fortune-teller (if time permits) and learn about the ancient spiritual beliefs. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 3: Yangon – Flight to Bagon

Bagon Temple Tour

Pick up Breakfast box from Hotel, meet our guide and transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Bagon. Arrival Bagon, leave your luggage at the hotel and start your full day tour with the colorful Nyaung U Market where residents from surrounding villages gather to buy and sell foods, crafts and other goods. Visit Shwezigon Pagoda, a prototype of the Burma style of stupas. Continue to the cave temple of Wetkyi-in Gubyaukkyi, featuring fine mural paintings of Jataka scenes, then visit a lacquer ware workshop to learn more about traditional Myanmar lacquer ware making. In the afternoon, visit Amanda Temple, a masterpiece of Mon architecture with four standing Buddha’s, and an adjacent brick monastery from the early Bagon era with well-preserved murals. Next is Thatbyinnyu Temple, the tallest in the complex, measuring 61m? Take in Dhammayangyi Temple, the largest of all of Bagon's many temples. In the late afternoon, we transfer to the Ayeryarwaddy River for a private Sunset Cruise where views of the temple silhouettes.

Day 4: Bagon – MT Popa sightseeing Bagon

Mt popa Temple Tour

We continue the exploration of Bagon with visits to the Manuha Temple, built by the Mon king in the 1300s to represent his time in captivity under the Bagon king. Morning pick up from your hotel or Bagon airport and 1, 5 hrs drives to Mount Popa, the Burmese spiritual epicenter for those who worship the pantheon of Nat spirits and martyrs. After paying respects to the Nat spirits shrine at the foot of Mount Popa, We climb nearly 800 steps to the pagoda perched at the top of the mountain to admire the beautiful views of the surrounding plains and farm lands.  After lunch break at Popa and on the way back to Bagon we stop at family run toddy shop. Here you can see how palm sugar juice toddy is harvested and made to rich and caramel-like toddy candiesBack to Bagon and leisure time.

Note: Toddy harvesting is seasonal and the family working hours and habits vary. So consider this as extra activity that is subject to availability.

Day 5: Bagon by road Mandalay – Ava – Sagaing – Amarapura

Bagon Sightseeing

Breakfast at the                              hotel, airport and drive by road to Mandalay 124km and driving hours for big coach (2 ½ hours). Then drive to Ava then take the local ferry to the former capital of Inwa (Ava), located on an island between the Ayeyarwaddy and the Myitnge Rivers, 21km south of Mandalay. Have horse cart ride through the ancient city walls to visit Maha Aungmye Bonzan – a unique brick and stucco monastery. Climb up the top of Nanmyin Watchtower to take in some lovely views over the river. Continue to the impressive wooden monastery of Bagaya Kyaung, formerly the "monastic college" for the royals. If time permits, visit some local handicraft workshops of silk weaving, mats and alms bowls.  Drive to Sagaing, 20km southwest of Mandalay. The picturesque Sagaing Hill, widely regarded as Myanamar’s living centre of Buddhism, is the site of numerous pagodas and monasteries. Visit the glittering Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin and U Min Thonze Pagoda.  Continue to Amarapura via the Ava Bridge, built by British engineers. Visit a weaving workshop and walk over the U Bein Bridge – the world's longest teak bridge stretching 1.2 km, to enjoy fabulous views of the countryside and encounter the friendly locals.

Day 6: Mandaley – Mingun – Mandaley sightseeing

Mandalay Sightseeing

B’fast at Hotel. Transfer to jetty to take a boat trip on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun, 11 km upriver from Mandalay. Visit Mingun Bell, which weighs 90 tons and is one of the world's largest bells; the beautiful Hsinbyume Paya (also known as Myatheintan Pagoda) was modelled after the mythical Mount Meru. The Mingun Paya, intended to be the world's biggest pagoda, is an overwhelmingly massive structure even though it remains unfinished. Visit Mahamuni Pagoda which houses one of Myanmar’s most sacred Buddha images covered with thick layers of gold leaf. Continue to Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings which are mostly done on teak wood; the renovated Atumashi Monastery which is referred as incomparable monastery and billed as the 'world’s largest book', Kuthodaw Pagoda houses the Buddhist Scriptures inscribed on marble slabs. Climb to the top of Mandalay Hill, a vantage point for panoramic views of the city and spectacular sunsets.

Day 7: Mandalay – Flight to Heho – Inle Lake Sightseeing

Heho Sightseeing

after an early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for the flight to Heho. From Heho, a scenic one-hour drive leads to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway village to Inle lake. Start with a visit to the Nyaung Shwe morning market, the meeting point for different ethnic minority groups of the surrounding areas to trade handmade goods and locally grown produce. Enroute to Inle Lake, we stop at a local family work shop to learn how Shan umbrellas and paper are made by traditional methods using the fibres of the mulberry tree. Afterwards, we’ll board a boat and head out to Inle Lake. Continue across the lake, passing through villages with stilted houses and floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and ud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. You will also see the leg‐rowing fishermen who steer their boats with incredible balance. Come back to the hotel.

Day 8: Inle Lake – Indein – Heho – Flight to Yangon

Heho Tour

after an early breakfast.  We will take the motor boat down a small canal leading to the Pa-oh village of In Dein. Explore the area on foot, strolling around the village and wander through the beautiful Alaung Sit thou area.  We boat back to the lake and visit Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the home of some of the country’s most sacred Buddha statues covered in gold leaf by devout followers. We also make a visit to the Inpawkhon weaving village to learn how local silks, linens and lotus fabrics are handmade and crafted. At Nampan village, local craftsmen show us how Burmese cigars, or “cheroots,” are traditionally packed and rolled. Then transfer to Heho airport for a flight back to Yangon. Arrival to Yangon and transfer to hotel.

Day 9: Yangon Departure (B) Yangon – Singapore – Chennai

Fly Back to Chennai

After early breakfast, proceed to Airport for departure to Chennai via Singapore. Yangon to Singapore by SQ 997 (Singapore Airlines ) departure at 1025hrs and reaching Singapore at 1510 hrs and from Singapore by SQ 528 (Singapore Airlines) starting at 2020 hrs and reaching Chennai at 2200 hrs .
